Byron hinterland’s roaming wood fired pizza oven comes to Clunes General Store on Thursdays and takes over the café area.
We love this place for simple Italian- style fare throughout the seasons. Dine alfresco in the warmer months or relax of an evening in the gently lit and cosy interior during winter.
Popular with the locals, Bangalow hotel serves good quality pub grub with various options of dining locations, in the designated restaurant or on the generous back veranda.

Belongil Beach just north of Byron town is a sneaky left turn off Ewingsdale road just before you hit the main section of Byron.
South of Broken Head a rocky headland between Tallows and Lennox Beaches are Kings, Brays, and Whites beaches, accessible from walking tracks off the unsealed Seven Mile Beach road.
Off Lighthouse road take the Tallows Beach Access Road to the North end of Tallows Beach and car park, then head north along the beach.
At the far end of Main and Clarkes beach is The Pass which has its own car park access and café above. It’s the spot in Byron for young surfers to hone their skills.
At the southern end of Main Beach is Clarks beach, great for families. There are usually large swathes of shallower water and sand pools when the tide goes out, which is great for kids.

If you head into Byron Bay for one thing then it should be a walk around the lighthouse. You’re almost guaranteed to see wildlife both in the ocean and on the land.
If you’re hankering for a decent bit of exercise, the Minyon Falls walking track is a great day trip. Take water, swimmers, good walking shoes, a light bite to eat and choose a good weather day.

The Farm was founded by the owners of the Three Blue Ducks restaurant in Sydney. Positioned just off the roundabout on the road to Byron Bay in Ewingsdale, it is both a casual restaurant, café, bakery (origin of the famed ‘Social bread’), florist and working farm.
The Clay Barn holds fantastic school holiday workshops for kids in ‘hand clay building’ as well as wheel turning workshops for older kids and adults.
From Clunes, just a few kilometres before you get to the village of Bangalow, Pegasus Park (right hand side) offers conventional group and individual trail rides through the beautiful Byron Hinterland.

Clunes is the closest village to the cottage. The Clunes General Store is a one stop shopselling food and general goods and it’s also a bottle shop and post office.
The original village called Jasper was born after the clearing of the Big Scrub for cattle, it has recently taken on a new lease of life since the opening of Doma Japanese restaurant, which has become a popular pilgrimage from Byron.
Another local village that has experienced a recent rise in visitors is the historic town of Newrybar, home Harvest restaurant and café, an equal drawcard being Newrybar Merchants across the road.
A visit to the Byron Hinterland would not be complete without a trip to the bustling hub of Byron Bay itself.
Mullumbimby is a medium sized town sat directly at the foot of Mount Chincogan, an ancient lava plug of the now extinct Tweed shield volcano and a dominating feature of the surrounding hinterland.
Located at the mouth of the Brunswick River and know as Bruns’ to the locals, this once sleepy holiday town has become increasingly popular and makes a great day trip for the family.
A significant town in the Rainbow region and of cultural significance to the local aboriginals, Nimbin is known for both its counter-culture and although not legal, its inhabitants open and obvious use of cannabis.
